Update on the tea room

The tea room is almost complete!

Here are some HD test renders-most of my textures are MIA Materials. Very pretty. I did use Physical Sun & Sky for overall lighting, then added some Mental Ray Area lights to fill in the gaps in the room. I DID use Final Gathering for all three images. Love the shadows!

I also played with the filters on the last of these to adjust the sharpness and those weird lines that happen with stripe-like things. It took about 5 minutes to render with the filters included.

More to come!

Daytime Tearoom

First experiments with rendering out lights on the tearoom. I've decided to go with Maya's physical sun and sky, as well as some mental ray area lights, which give those nice shadows from the bamboo walls. Expensive to render, but it'll be worth it.

A peek into the tea room...

My newest work is a traditional style chashitzu. A ceremonial Japanese tea room. All the components are built with polygons and curves. I'm not among the brave who like nurbs.

Once completed it will be fully stocked for the tea ceremony and even have a little ikebana to greet the guests into the room. I plan to have it be textured so it feels traditional, so it takes you away to another place and time...but with a modern twist.

I also plan to have this room as a part of my next animated short >:)

Steampunk can swim.

This is a little thing I've been working on for the past few days...instead of working on things I'm SUPPOSED to be working on.

The Steampunk Swan could be a potential submission for artwork for the "International Steampunk City" event in Waltham this coming May. Ideally, a group of colleagues and I would create a 3D submission, but seeing as how the submission deadline is next week....we shall see.

Das Bike: The Movie

Das Bike. A 1942 BMW R75. Traveling through time from its army days of WWII, escaping the looming political tension, to breaking through the walls of...well, you'll see.

Due to the compression that I had to do to make this web-worthy, it looks like crap. And its very dark. If you need to see it the way it was meant to be seen, get in touch with me.

Long time, no post...but there's DAS BIKE!

The past few months have been spent creating an excellent mode of transportation. The BMW R75s were made for the German Army in WWII and were primarily used in Northern Africa. After the War, the R75s were still produced commercially. And now "Das Bike" is being produced...in Maya!

She and the cityscape is constructed in polys. I used both Maya and Mental Ray shaders. For the beauty shot I also used Final Gathering.

It'll take a little while for the next update for "Das Bike" since the next step for her is rigging her up :)
